Get to know the attorney behind your case, what makes him tick, and why you should work with him despite his controversial opinion that pineapple on pizza is a good thing.
I didn’t take the usual road to law. I spent more than a decade in the business world building, scaling, and eventually selling two companies of my own.
I went to law school thinking I’d stay in the business world, but my focus shifted when I started learning about how the law affected families.
What really pushed me to change my focus were the conversations. As I shared what I was learning, the same thing kept happening: People would respond with, “I wish I’d known that” and proceed to tell me their experiences. My own wife said it most powerfully. She and her mother had lived through abuse, and then through a divorce that left them financially devastated. Much of that harm came down to simply not knowing their rights, and not being able to afford a lawyer who could advocate for them. I heard versions of that story again and again. Regular people, facing the hardest moments of their lives, were shut out because the larger firms only had eyes for clients with millions in assets.
That’s no how I run my practice. I help regular families with the legal challenges that matter most: family law when life is coming apart, and estate planning when you want to preserve what you built for your loved ones.
My background in startups and small business gave me the skills to know what to look for when there’s a claim an ex-spouse is trying to hide finances or avoid paying support.
My marketing background taught me how to take a messy, emotional, complicated, and human situation and turn it into a clear and cohesive story a court can understand.
And building companies from nothing taught me to find creative solutions where others see dead ends.
I ask a lot of questions. I try to understand every angle. Ultimately, you get a multifaceted attorney who’s sole job is to advocate for you.
Just as much as the legal strategy, I care about how you feel walking through it. I work to take the pressure off your shoulders as much as I can, help you feel steady and confident, and make sure you never feel like you’re facing this alone. We get through it together.
My focus is on you and your family, not on trophies that have nothing to do with your case.
I’ve lived in the Bay Area my whole life and have called Santa Cruz home for over a decade. My genuine commitment is to the people I serve.
If you’re facing something hard, I’d be glad to talk.
